  3. Willingness to read insurance policies. (It is part of the job.)

We like:

  1. Prior insurance coverage work means you are the leading candidate.
  2. Otherwise, be willing and eager to learn.
  3. Being a law nerd. If you like reading, problem solving, and thinking about legal arguments, you will do well here.
  4. Knowledge of the Federal Rules. We do a lot of federal court litigation

You will:

  1. Work on first- and third-party coverage cases.
  2. Draft pleadings, discovery, and motions.
  3. Mediate.
  4. Negotiate with attorneys for policyholders and claimants.
  5. Talk with clients (large insurance carriers).
  6. Attend hearings and, depending on experience, taking depositions.
  7. Attend trials as second chair.

You’ll like:

  1. A better salary than other insurance practice firms.
  2. A reasonable billing requirement that allows for work-life balance.
  3. Your health insurance is paid for by the firm.
  4. We pay bar, DBA, and insurance law section dues. We also pay for you to attend the annual Advanced Insurance Law seminar in San Antonio each year.
  5. A relaxed work environment. There is no dress code.
  6. Participation other bar events or one-off CLEs is encouraged.
  7. The people who work here are of varied backgrounds, and we value that.
  8. You are not required to market, solicit, or originate clients.
  9. We try to hire people we want to work with long term. More than one associate has been promoted to partner in this firm’s history. When we find the right people, we do what we can do keep them.

Please provide a resume, a writing sample that reflects your work, and references to Matt Rigney at mattr@tbmmlaw.com.
